Last week I was deeply honoured to celebrate 100 years of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung together with the FES Romania community in Bucharest. 🎉

As a collaborator in their projects and research studies focused on Romania s foreign policy orientations, it was a special moment to reconnect with many familiar faces, experts and young fellows. Many thanks Cristian Chiscop for our cooperation!
Th event was opened by an inspiring speech of HE Angela Ganninger -Ambassador of Germany in Bucharest. The event was also very emotional because the leadership mandate of Anna-Lena Koschig ended and she handed over FESRomania leadership to Mr Jacques Paparo. I greatly appreciated Anna-Lena s diplomatic and pro-active engagement and I wish her all the best in the new position in Berlin. Her contribution to Romania s public debate and the promotion of social democratic values was greatly appreciated. I am sure that the new experienced director will continue on the same path.

For me personally, FES remains one of the few spaces where meaningful conversations on democracy, social justice and Europe’s future, in a respectful dialogue based on social democratic values, are possible and encouraged.
