After numerous attempts, I finally attended the play 5+3=9 at Theatre Grivita 53 yesterday. It was an incredibly powerful narrative that highlighted Chris Simion’s passion and the struggles she faced in establishing this vibrant cultural hub. The journey of Chris and Tiberiu serves as a testament to the resilience and dedication essential for bringing artistic visions to fruition.

Chris Simion’s raw and honest portrayal of her personal struggles made the play deeply relatable and truthful.

The challenges artists encounter when creating cultural spaces struck a chord with me, especially since I’ve known Chris and Tiberiu for over 20 years. I’m currently facing similar issues with my rural regeneration project and the restoration of Salbek Castle, now four years into its development.

I was truly impressed by the new generation of artists and their remarkable talent and commitment. I’m confident we’ll soon see their names as the future stars of the Romanian scene, making significant contributions to contemporary theatre.

Simultaneously, I’m excited to reflect on the Salbek project, which embodies a spirit of innovation and community engagement in the arts. Both initiatives remind us of culture’s transformative power and the importance of nurturing creative spaces that enrich our society.

As we wrap up the student applications for the fourth edition of the Salbek Opera Master Class, we’re also in the final stages of preparing for the MidSummer Celebration.
