Politics, foreign policy and business have almost always been interwoven, with the exception of a fairly brief period during the 1990s when the sheer ubiquitousness of U.S. business ensured something close to a Carthaginian peace.

That’s not the case anymore. Business, politics and culture are increasingly a discussion on Chinese and U.S. interests. Those interests, in turn, are expressed through the relevancy of respective businesses in global markets.​
