A timely discussion about drones, deterrence, interoperability, and what Allied unity looks like beyond the headlines.

One key takeaway from the Romania exercise is that modern air defence is no longer about individual systems performing well in isolation. It is about how sensors, electronic warfare tools, command-and-control structures, and kinetic and non-kinetic effectors connect, share data, and act together under pressure. The LCI-X exercise at Capu Midia showed that NATO’s next challenge is not only acquiring advanced technology, but integrating it into operationally relevant, multinational counter-UAS cells.
