The deep lesson that the great philosopher Jürgen Habermas (18 June 1929 – 14 March 2026) has taught us in his book “The Crisis of the European Union. A Response” is that the stakes of resolving [EU current crises] are tremendously important for the member states, for the European Union and for the world in general. For EU member-states, it is a matter of choosing between geopolitical irrelevance and geopolitical importance. For the European Union, it is a matter of life and death: who will actually survive, market Europeans or integration champions? His idea that EU is a political project for humankind that cannot be allowed to fail will stay with me and hopefully with many integration champions. RIP
