What really shapes a country? Is it the GDP, or is it the way the next generation process dopamine?
I spent an inspiring day at the iSense Solutions hashtag#ForcesShapingRomania event, and these are the things that sticked with me:
– from Ioan Alin Nistor‘s macro presentation
⚖️ massive regional disparities in income and cost of living compared to EU average.
📍 The Education Trap: out, higher spending on education in Romania isn’t about more trips to the museum and courses; it’s a symptom of a struggling public system. We are paying for private tutoring just to keep up or private schools where possible.
🍴 The Lifestyle Gap: We spend far less on services and dining out than our European neighbors. It’s a stark reminder of the work still needed to improve the general quality of life and the “experience” sector in Romania.
📱 Gen Alpha’s “Digital Tobacco”: Laura Rosca’s insights into Gen Alpha were wild. Seeing short-form video content compared to the dopamine hits of alcohol or tobacco for adults is a wake-up call for every parent and marketer. They are looking for authenticity in a world of viral trends (pickles, anyone?) and using gaming as a primary bridge to connect with others—including their parents.
Authenticity seems to be the only currency that matters moving forward.
Great to catch up with the community and dive deep into these trends!
