Inequalities in health are not a new topic for us. At Centre for Innovation in Medicine, they have been part of our DNA for almost 12 years.
In fact, addressing inequalities — and using innovation to reduce them — was one of the founding pillars of our organization.
In the early years, our work focused on access to health information, especially in cancer. Through sustained policy efforts, we contributed to advancing personalised medicine in Romania, including the adoption of the Law on the Right to Personalised Medicine — a premiere in Europe and an important step toward aligning national systems with a more patient-centred vision of care.
Over time, our focus expanded — from policy to education, from access to information to understanding how people actually use that information. This meant going deeper into health literacy, but also beyond it.
Because health decisions are rarely made in isolation.
