EY-Parthenon launched the new edition of the Romania M&A Review 2025 — the first report of the year featuring fresh market data.
Key highlights:
• Deal activity remained resilient: Volume +3% YoY, Value -1%. However, the average deal size decreased by 17%🔻, despite landmark transactions such as Regina Maria, Praktiker Hellas, and La Cocoș.
• The drop in average deal size is driven by a 60% increase in transactions below €5M, signaling strong activity in the small-cap segment.
• Transparency remains the market’s biggest challenge. A high share of undisclosed deal values continues to blur the real picture of sector trends (an example here in Advanced Manufacturing & Mobility).
• Outbound investments are gaining momentum. Romanian investors are increasingly active abroad, both in number and size of transactions — a clear sign that HNWIs are looking to hedge domestic exposure.
We were also honored to have Dan Ostahie as special guest, sharing ALTEX Romania Group’s M&A vision: sustaining growth while diversifying into niches that can mitigate the impact of the current crisis.
