The highlight of my week was participating in “AI in America,” a summit hosted by The Hill that brought together industry leaders, elected officials, and policy experts to discuss how AI can help the United States maintain its edge in great-power competition.

That said, AI is not just an American priority, it must also preoccupy United States’ allies. As Fred Thiel, CEO of MARA, powerfully stated: every nation today needs to focus on two critical issues:
(1) data sovereignty and
(2) securing the massive energy required to power AI data centers.

This is where my country, Romania, has a unique advantage. As the largest natural gas producer in the European Union, Romania is ideally positioned to host the next generation of energy-intensive AI data centers, offering both abundant, affordable energy and strategic alignment with Western allies.
