We are back from the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, organised by the EUPHA – European Public Health Association, in Helsinki 💫
Full house at the Pecha Kucha workshop “𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙊𝙣𝙚-𝙎𝙞𝙯𝙚-𝙁𝙞𝙩𝙨-𝘼𝙡𝙡: 𝙍𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 21𝙨𝙩 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙮”, bringing together leading voices in personalised prevention, including three contributions from the 4P-CAN consortium.
4P-CAN Project Coordinator Marius Geanta, MD, PhD presented “𝙍𝙚𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: 𝙇𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 4𝙋-𝘾𝘼𝙉 𝙍𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙇𝙖𝙗 𝙞𝙣 𝙀𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣 𝙀𝙪𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚”, highlighting the Leresti Living Lab as an example of personalised prevention in action, where social sciences, community engagement and personalised communication merge to transform primary cancer prevention.
We were delighted to see two additional contributions from representatives from 4P-CAN partner Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS:
• Prof. Stefania Boccia – “𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙥𝙤𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙨 𝙖 𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠”, presenting the roadmap from the PROPHET.EU project and stressing why Europe must move beyond traditional models of prevention.
• Dr. Roberta Pastorino – “𝙐𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙃𝙞𝙙𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙍𝙞𝙨𝙠: 𝙋𝙤𝙡𝙮𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝙎𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣”, showing how advanced genetic insights can improve risk stratification and early action in cardiovascular prevention.
The session, moderated by Peter Piko, was completed by an inspiring talk from Prof. Martina Cornel (Amsterdam UMC and President of the ESHG European Society of Human Genetics) on “DNA-based screening in prevention: current practice and future promise”.
