Sixth Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC)
📍 Athens, November 6-7
This week, I went to the forum where leaders from both sides of the Atlantic talked about the future of AI, energy, and working together on infrastructure.
Jacob Helberg , Undersecretary of State for Economic Affairs of the United States, was asked about the partnership for transatlantic energy cooperation and how it leads to a shared vision between Europe and the U.S. Here is what he had to say:
““First, it starts with the principles and making sure that partners and the United States are aligned on what the principles are…
At the implementation stage, principles are amazing but they’re really just words, unless we actually develop a plan that has flagship projects…Including energy infrastructure investments in the vertical corridor, as well as, 𝗣𝗣𝗖 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗴𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘁𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀.
𝗦𝗼, 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.”
PPC’s 5 billion gigafactory in Ptolemaida is a real-life example of how energy cooperation between Europe and the U.S. moves from ideas to action, connecting investment, infrastructure, and technology.
That’s the kind of alignment that really makes a difference.
